Two friends, one shared dream

Block 57, a new production company in Nigeria, is proud to announce the upcoming release of its highly anticipated debut short film, “You Are The Problem” written by Omotoke Solarin-Sodara. This psychological thriller promises to take audiences on a tense, introspective journey into the depths of guilt and accountability.

“You Are The Problem” introduces viewers to Preye and Favour, two estranged friends who find themselves trapped in an unsettling dream space. The dramatic question looms: will they make it out of this shared dream, or will their unresolved resentment be the ultimate barrier to their escape?

“We wanted to explore the fragility of friendships and the heavy burden of unspoken truths,” says Omotoke. “This film shows how past actions and hidden complicity can manifest in unexpected ways, forcing characters to confront their truths.”

The short film features powerful performances from Janet Ajanma (Butterflies) embodies the outspoken and proud Preye, and Fadesaye Olateru-Olagbegi (Itura) portrays the seemingly timid Favour. “The dream space is fueled by a shared trauma, one that the audience will understand when they watch it.” Omotoke tells us. 

Meet the Production Team

A dedicated and passionate production team made “You Are The Problem” a reality. Omotoke Solarin-Sodara and visionary director Damilare Bello guided the vision from script to screen, teaming up to create an unforgettable cinematic experience. Opeyemi Abiodun the Director of Photography, masterfully crafted every shot, ensuring the psychological thriller looked as gripping as it felt.

And of course other key crew members: Adeyinka Ibidapo, the brilliant gaffer. Tioluwalase Adeyemo, the meticulous continuity director and script supervisor. Kehinde Odunuga, the location mixer and boom operator. Also, the talented Oyewole Lawal and Victor Adewale, on the Stills and BTS photography.
